Notes on the Battery Act

The Battery Act (BattG) regulates the marketing, return and environmentally sound disposal of batteries and accumulators (rechargeable batteries). In connection with the sale of batteries and accumulators or with the delivery of devices containing batteries and accumulators, we as the seller are obliged to inform you of the following:

Batteries and rechargeable batteries do not belong in the household waste. Disposal in the normal household waste is prohibited and violates the Battery Act. As an end user, you are legally obligated to return used batteries and rechargeable batteries. After use, you can return batteries and rechargeable batteries free of charge to us as the seller or to the designated collection points (e.g. municipal collection points or local retailers). You can return the batteries and rechargeable batteries purchased from us directly to us or by mail in a sufficiently stamped form to the following address:

Batteries and rechargeable batteries that contain harmful substances are clearly marked with the symbol of a crossed-out garbage can. Furthermore, under the symbol of the crossed-out garbage can, the chemical name of the corresponding pollutants.

The symbols shown on the batteries have the following meaning:

  • The symbol of the crossed-out garbage can means that the battery must not be placed in the household garbage;
  • Pb = battery contains more than 0.004% lead by mass;
  • Cd = battery contains more than 0.002% cadmium by mass;
  • Hg = battery contains more than 0.0005% mercury by mass.

By returning batteries and accumulators, you fulfill the legal obligation and make a contribution to environmental protection.
